Contributor,

Esther Galo

Esther's Spanish roots began at home with her father, Oscar, who was born in Nicaragua, and her mother, Maria, who was born in Honduras.  She resides in Houston with her husband, Sam, their four children, and the family dog "Spanky".

Esther Galo's classroom journey began in August 2001 with the dream of being a Spanish teacher. Her passion and love for Spanish culture climbed to new heights as she transitioned from Teacher Aid to high school teacher, mentor, and adjunct professor at a local community college. Experienced as an AP Reader for the College Board, also proved invaluable.  In 2013, Esther was awarded "Teacher of the Year" at Westbury High School.  That same year she was nominated "Secondary Teacher of the Year finalist" in the fourth largest school district in the U.S.   An adventurous spirit, Esther traveled to Spain and earned a Master's degree in Spanish Language and Culture from the Universidad de Salamanca.
