Our Author, Jose Aviña
José Manuel Aviña earned a bachelor’s in business administration / Spanish degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been a public educator at Sunset High School in Dallas, TX since 2008. He serves as a member of the World Languages Leadership team for Dallas ISD and is also a member of the Dual Language CADRE department.

He has taught all levels of Spanish at the high school level and his experience includes participating in the scoring of the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam. He has served as an exam reader and table leader since 2015. In 2018 he obtained his master’s degree in Teaching the Spanish Language and its Culture, from the University of Granada in Spain.
His hope is to instill in his students a thirst for knowledge and to continue to widen his students’ views on tolerance, diversity and respect while improving their language skills.
